PIP
From Samsung Plasma TV FAQ
Contents |
Analog TV signals (Cable or Air inputs) can be viewed on the picture-in-picture (PIP) screen while viewing an external video source (DVD, Set-top box, PC, etc.) connected to the Component, PC, or HDMI inputs.
[edit] Activating PIP
- Choose an Air or Cable input and tune it to an analog channel you want to view with PIP.
- Change the input to HDMI, Component, or PC (VGA)
- Press the PIP button on the remote control to activate the PIP.
- Change channels with the ▲ and ▼ buttons at the bottom right of the remote.
Notes
- If you start by changing to HDMI or the other inputs, you are going to get a channel on whatever analog input was last selected. If your last analog input was air, thats what PIP is going to give you, so it would be wise to select the air or cable input and channel before you change input to HDMI.
- While the V-Chip is in operation, the PIP function cannot be used.
- If you turn the TV off while watching in PIP mode and turn it on again, the PIP window will disappear.
- Press the PIP button on the remote control to deactivate the PIP.
- Digital channels cannot be selected for PIP; only air or cable inputs are accessible.
- These sets only have one tuner, but single-tuner PIP is something of a misnomer because you must have at least two video sources or tuners for PIP to function. The distinction here is that the TV has one tuner, while an external device, such as a set-top box, supplies the second tuner.
If you are viewing a TV channel from your STB on the main screen, you can also watch an analog TV channel from the Cable or Air inputs on the PIP screen. You can also view two different video sources at the same time (DVD,VHS etc) if a splitter is used with one feed going to the STB and the other connecting a VCR to the Cable input.
