[edit] Problem
Eric - I can't get the name/link added for Ricsim78 under Picture settings....specifically, the cell won't split. Can you fix it for me? Thanks. --Mfenech 21:04, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
It's fixed. --Mfenech 23:08, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] eghill's color setting
Who changed eghill's color setting from 48 to 50, and why? According to this link he uses 48. Did I miss a follow-up post where he changed it to 50? --grimholtz 15:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't know either. I'm sure he would have mentioned it on the zippy thread. I added his settings Application. --Mfenech 15:36, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok, well, I'm changing it back to 48. It might be a vandal. Never mind, looks like someone else got to it before me. --grimholtz 16:09, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Eric, I'm not sure replacing eg's settings was the right thing to do. Lots of people use them and a good number of those won't be updating their firmware anytime soon. Maybe you could annotate those settings as 1039 and add a footnote with a link back to his previous settings on AVS? (This is so the page doesn't get too congested.) --Mfenech 16:17, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
I made a change myself, although you have something in mind already, it seems. --Mfenech 16:24, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Mike, I didn't change eg's settings on the wiki. I changed the link on his name from post 674 to 796. I'll change it back. I'm in the process of listing both sets of settings side-by-side. --grimholtz 17:12, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok..sorry. --Mfenech 17:19, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- No worries. Let me know if you think there's a better way to list the changes. I've emailed eghill asking him to fill in the blanks for where I have question marks on his new settings. --grimholtz 17:39, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
I went ahead and removed my settings. No one has my firmware version, so it's not much use to anyone. Since people have asked for medium to bright room settings, someone should post them. --Mfenech 03:36, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Which firmware do you have?? --Eric H. Jung 00:35, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have 1024. --Mfenech 22:16, 27 March 2008 (CDT)
- LOL, ok. I'm sorry to see your settings go because I did use them on my 5064 at one time, and liked them quite a bit... but I don't use them anymore. Why are you still on 1024, anyway? --Eric H. Jung 13:22, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have 1024. --Mfenech 22:16, 27 March 2008 (CDT)
[edit] Post break-in table width
Eric, those post-break-in settings are going to fill up the page horizontally really quick. Maybe remove the "[model] Settings" from the headers, since they're under the xx54 heading anyway? Also, you can add an Application field that covers DVD viewing vs. HDTV, etc.
- OK, i'll fix it. --grimholtz 15:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC): OK, I'll change it.
[edit] Post break-in settings not always applicable
martijua uses QAM (analog cable) for his settings. I n/a'd where applicable on the tables. --Mfenech 04:48, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
My settings are added. Sorry we stepped on each other in the process. --Mfenech 04:48, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
- No worries. Thanks for adding your stuff. I see you learned how to sign your entries :) --grimholtz 16:13, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Those last changed in here were mine. --Mfenech 19:59, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. Didn't know if it was a spammer or not. --205.181.102.120 20:02, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Made a small update to mine, but I wasn't logged in. --Mfenech 16:08, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
I redid the columns so more contributors can post their settings. I also added a disclaimer about using posted settings with different firmware versions. --Mfenech 17:36, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Available Options
No Idea where to put the dnie, detailed setting, etc options
- I'll make it a new top-level section and rename the page from "Optimal Display Settings" to "Display Settings". --grimholtz 03:27, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm pretty certain dnile is really DNIe. :) --Mfenech 03:54, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. I fixed it --got it right this time-- I hope
- What does DNIE stand for?? --grimholtz 16:14, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Digital Natural Image Engine
Dont know how much, if any, the Detailed Settings of 74/84's differ from the 34/54/64s but if they are the same the 74/84 manual omits #2 below.Benjamin
xx34
1. When the picture mode is set to Standard or Movie, Detailed Settings can be selected.
2.If DNIe is set to Off and the picture mode is in Standard mode, the Detailed Settings cannot be selected
xx74/84
When the picture mode is set to Dynamic, Detailed Settings cannot be selected.
[edit] Just Scan
I dont use VGA, but contrary to what Samsung says, I dont see it on component but only on HDMI at 720p and 1080i. I havnt tried 480P but it likely uses wide fit only on this setting.
[edit] Picture Size Change?
I have had my 5054 for nearly 3 years. For the majority of that time, I used component cables and set the picture size to 16:9, which expanded 4:3 channels and progs to 16:9. Recently, I upgraded to HDMI settings. Since that time, all my 4:3 shows are at 4:3 instead of 16:9, regardless of what setting (Just Scan or 16:9). The same holds true for the Component setting, which I had left in place. I have since removed the HDMI cable, but the component setting is still the same way, even with 16:9. How can I fix this? Dave
- Interesting. While I don't have a definitive answer for you, I would do a factory reset of the television's firmware. This is an option in the menu somewhere. I can't remember off-hand. Post again if you can't find it, and I'll dig out instructions for you. --Eric H. Jung 23:20, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- I just tried resetting the Display Settings--it did not fix this. Is that what you meant? Note that I am using the original firmware--I've never upgraded. Dave
- There's a factory reset option. I'll dig through the menus tonight and post later with the menu sequences. --Eric H. Jung 16:57, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
